DO YOU KNOW JESUS? DOES HE KNOW YOU?
I had the experience, not too long ago of someone telling me they did not need any help with their spiritual life, they were fine. I think no matter how good of a Christian we are, we all need help. No one is perfect, no one has all the answers and no one has all the light. We can never have enough or too much. Living a Christian life after being saved is a continual growing and learning process.
My son and I were having a discussion and he mentioned he thought there would be a lot of people who would be very surprised on the day we face the Lord and He says, " I never knew you."
They claim, "I am a good person, I do what is right, I donít smoke, cuss, drink or take drugs. I go to church, I sing praises, I witness, I believe in God, I give money to the church." These things are very good but they do not mean we are saved.
So what does it take to be saved?
I am not a bible scholar or a minister and I do not have all the answers. BUT, the bible does.
If you are not saved, or you are not sure, or perhaps you have strayed from God and need to rededicate your life to Jesus, please read the following.
1. We must
CONFESS that we are a sinner. The Bible tells us,
ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD. Romans 3:23
Ephesians 2:8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
There is nothing we can do to earn salvation.
We are saved by the grace of God, given freely, through faith in receiving Jesus Christ into our hearts.
John 1:12. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
We must receive Him, Jesus Christ. No one is born into salvation. No one deserves it.
Romans 3:23. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Every one of us is a sinner. Every one of us comes short of the glory of God.
John 3:16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:36. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
1 John 5:11. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Romans 10:9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Prayer is a very important part of Christian life.
We may pray the sinners prayer, such as the one below or one similar but no prayer, no act, no work, saves us. Itís because of our REPENTANCE, our BELIEF, our FAITH, our TRUST in Jesus Christ that God gives us the GIFT of salvation.
Dear Lord, I know I am a sinner and I am truly sorry for all my sins. I believe with all my heart and soul that you are the one and only Son of God. That you gave Your life on the cross willingly for my sins. Please forgive my sins and come into my life. Lord Jesus cleanse me and make me whole. I surrender my life to you Lord, please take control and change my life. Help me to be the kind of person you want me to be. Please fill me with your sweet Holy Spirit to overflowing. Teach me thy ways Lord. Thank you for hearing my prayer. In Jesus name
While this prayer or any prayer is not going to save us, it would be good, I believe, to say such a prayer every day, every hour, every minute, every second. Pray without ceasing. Rededicate our lives to Christ everyday.
We must be baptized by full immersion in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost for the remission of sin.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Acts 2: 38 Then Peter said unto them, repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin and ye shall receive the Holy Ghost.
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
In order to grow and learn and live a Christian life we must read Godís word daily. I recommend the KJV bible, (just my own personal choice) Spend time in prayer, alone with Christ. Seek fellowship with other Christians and not be ashamed to ask for prayer and help.
Isaiah 34:16 "Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read"
Jesus wants us to KNOW HIM, to have a personal relationship with Him. We should ask ourselves, "Do I know Jesus? Does Jesus KNOW ME?"
